Full Description

This bespoke dining table was made in the 1960s by a cabinetmaker in Denmark. This dining table was found with a set of chairs made by cabinetmaker Gustav Bertelsen and designed by Steffan Syrach Larsen. The angular detailing of the table top edge combined with the oval shape and round tapering legs suggest that the table was ordered and made in the 1960s. Measuring 77cm high, the table is 5cm higher than most midcentury tables, having had "sabon" added at a later date, probably to accommodate a set of contemporary chairs with seat heights of 46-49cm. The sabon can be removed without leaving any traces, which would lower the table by 4cm to 73cm height and put the table at the correct height for midcentury chairs that typically have seat heights of 43-44cm. The table is 186cm long when not extended and extends with up to three leaves giving 240/295/350cm and allowing for 8/10/12 seats. The table is 115cm across. The table has been re-polished and is water resistant and suitable for regular use.
